Dr. Pankaj Sharma
Pankaj Sharma holds a Ph.D. in physics and a master’s degree in solid-state physics. He has an MBA from Purdue University and an Advanced Certificate in Applied Computer and Information Technology, Rochester Institute of Technology. His field of research has been application of radioactivity for dating and tracing in geological and biomedical systems. He has published over one hundred research papers in international journals. Dr. Sharma joined Discovery Park at its inception in 2002 as an Associate Director for Operations and International Affairs at Discovery Park. The Discovery Park is Purdue's $750 million home to the university's large-scale interdisciplinary research efforts. Currently, he is a managing director for the Energy Center, Global Sustainability Institute at Purdue’s Office of the Vice President for Research. He also currently holds a courtesy associate professor appointment in Technology Leadership and Innovation (College of Technology). Recently, Pankaj was also selected ‘Fulbright New Century Scholar 2009-2010.’ His focus for Fulbright research has been on studying (1) innovation capacity in India and (2) university based economic development in Indiana.
Before coming to Purdue in 1993, Dr. Sharma was a researcher at the University of South Carolina, the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Rochester.

Hamid Piroozi oversees for all aspects of intellectual property management for the Purdue Office of Technology Commercialization. His responsibilities include evaluating technology-based innovations for appropriate intellectual property protection, drafting and filing patent applications and responses and other communications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Those duties include filing for copyright registrations, preparing and filing trademark applications, engaging and managing outside counsel on patent preparation and prosecutions matters, assisting in due diligence of legal matters relating to the Purdue Office of Technology Commercialization. Piroozi also manages the office's intellectual portfolio design and management, provides educational and outreach opportunities to the Purdue community on various topics related to the office and is charged with improving legal-related processes for the office.
Piroozi has more than 15 years of experience as a mechanical and electrical engineer for such companies as Firestone Industrial Products Co., Delco Electronics Corp. and Thomson Consumer Electronics, Inc., where he designed and developed automotive components and integrated circuits. He has about six years of experience as a patent attorney both in general practice law firm and intellectual property boutique environments. He holds Purdue University degrees in BSE (ME), BSEE and MSEE. He holds an Indiana University jurisprudence doctorate degree. He is admitted to practice law in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, the State of Indiana, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
